Common Questions

Will the treatment be painful?

It is our goal to make your time with us a comfortable, painless and pleasant experience. Root canal treatment requires local anesthetic numbing, similar to other dental treatment. If treatment is needed, we will inject a small amount of anesthesia to gently numb a concentrated area of your mouth. For most patients, the feeling of numbness usually subsides after 2-3 hours.

Will I need to return to your office for follow-ups after the procedure is finished?

Yes, for most root canal treatments, we recommend that patients return to the office 1 year after the procedure was finished. Our office will send a reminder notice to you when you are due for a recall appointment.

How long will my treatment take?

For most front teeth and routine back teeth, root canal treatment can be completed in one visit. Infected teeth or complex back teeth may require multiple visits in order to achieve a long-lasting result. We will be able to explain the length of treatment for your individual tooth at your first visit to our office. Please see our home page for instructions for completing forms online before your appointment to save time at check-in.
